Job Description:
· In charge of executing the work
· Performs review of daily job cost analysis by end of the day and revies with project team prior to next shift start. Make appropriate changes accordingly.
· Ensure that safety protocols are followed, PPE, safety tools and equipment are used consistently. Daily and weekly safety meets/briefings are occurring. Pre-construction safety plan is developed with the management team prior to beginning work. Promoting safety culture is a priority. Does a post-mortem on incidents and accidents, to promote corrective action and changed behavior.
· Ensuring that quality workmanship is provided by all of our crews. Systematic internal checks and QC processes are used and double checked.
· Ensure that J&J Excavating and trucking core values are implemented and adhered to.
· Coordinate equipment and manpower needs with operations manager.
· Jointly develop look ahead schedule with operations manager
· Plan out work, days-weeks-months ahead.
· Communicates upcoming work with operations manager to ensure admin requirements for submittals, work plans, certification, etc. are in place.
· Communicate with owners’ rep, engineer, testing, & other agency people
· Review & understand budget and overall project plan/strategy.
· Review & understand subcontractor scope & J&J Excavating and trucking support for sub.
· Identify potential risk areas.
· Advise operations manager when issues, conflicts, delays arise.
· Represent J&J Excavating and Trucking in a professional manner.
· Consider the cost effectiveness of the work plan. Is there a better way?
· Coordinate subcontractors.
· Order materials for crew(s)
· Attend project meetings.
· Identify potential safety issues.
· Take corrective action with work force failures.
· Look at opportunities for salvage of materials, (aggr, millings, timber, scrap, etc)
· Plan contingencies for weather, failures.
Leadership
· Head of chain of command with the work force
· Communicate problems with operations manager.
Resources
· Manages equipment & crews on the project for best use.
· Advise operations manager when needs change for manpower & equipment.
· Advise when manpower & equipment will be available for reassignment.
Transparency
· Communicate problems with personnel, subs and suppliers to operations manager.
Requirements
· Proven experience as a superintendent
· Familiarity with quality, health, and safety standards.
· Outstanding communication, organizational and time-management skills.
